Sales coaching

A 1,900-lesson sales course with its own coach, built in under 90 minutes

A sales coach wanted her whole method available as a course her student could carry on a phone: lessons to read, quizzes to prove it landed, and someone to practise on at any hour.

83 minutes
from the first commit (10:44) to the full course (12:07), 9 October 2026; 409 of its 412 commits
1,900
lessons in 190 modules, about 2.7 million words, each lesson with a five-question quiz
412
commits in the project history
35 / 35
automated tests passing

The biggest number comes first, with its method underneath. Every figure is read from the build's own git log or a dated usage reading, and nothing here touched anyone's private data.

How fast

The first commit landed at 10:44 on 9 October: the working app with a placeholder course. The first course module followed at 11:13, and by 12:07 all 190 modules were in, 396 course commits in 54 minutes. A five-minute tidy of the course index the next day is the only work after that.

Fast is nice. What did it cost?

What it cost

No extra spend. The build ran inside flat-rate AI subscriptions that were already paid for. Usage was not metered separately for this build, so no per-build dollar figure is claimed. The live coach is designed to run inside a free daily allowance, with a hard cap built in.

What was built

  • A course reader built for a phone: 190 modules, each with a boss quiz at the end, and each lesson opens only once the one before it is passed.
  • Levels, XP and badges, so progress is visible without any nagging.
  • Spaced review: a passed lesson comes back after 1, 3, 7 and 21 days, and a missed question resets the clock.
  • A tutor that answers from the lessons themselves and links to the lesson it used. If nothing in the course matches, it says so instead of guessing.
  • A role-play mode with different prospects to practise on, and a scorecard against the coach's own method.
  • A speaking mode that measures pace and filler words from a recording and gives one tip.
  • A single private passphrase login with a lockout after five wrong tries, a forced change from any temporary passphrase and a daily cap on the AI coach so it can never run up a bill.

Cheap and fast still has to work. How do we know it does?

How it was checked

35 automated tests pass. They cover the login and lockout, server-side quiz marking, the review schedule, the boss quizzes, the tutor, role-play and speech analysis, and the daily cap. A separate check confirms all 1,900 lessons match the course format and the index. At the time of writing the app has not been deployed, and the AI coach was tested with stand-in replies rather than a live model, so live coach quality is still to be checked once it is online.
